Reflections

  • Attributes my success to the guidance of my parents and the education received at Central Christian School.
  • Recognizes the school's support for my spiritual and social-emotional well-being.
  • Values the partnership between my parents and Central Christian School in shaping my academic and personal development.
  • Credits my high school experience for instilling a strong work ethic, tenacity, and resilience that have been crucial in my journey through medical education and training.

I graduated from Central Christian High School in 2009. After my family moved to Central Oregon from Orange County I told my Mom in no uncertain terms I wanted to attend a Christian school because it mattered more to me "who" I was going to school for than "where" I was going to school. While at Central Christian, I was nominated as a McDonald's All-American basketball player, played four years of varsity soccer, served as the student body president in my junior and senior years, learned how to play the guitar very well, developed deep and lasting friendships, and was honored to represent my class as the valedictorian. I attended Wheaton College in Wheaton, IL, played on Wheaton's soccer team - blessed to have the privilege of continuing my athletic pursuits at the collegiate level, was on the pre-med track pursuing medicine, earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology with a minor in Chemistry, and graduated summa cum laude. I was accepted, attended, and graduated from Loma Linda University School of Medicine in 2017, married my incredible wife, Kathy, and together we both pursued our Pediatric Residency programs at Children's National Hospital in Washington DC for three years. I was then accepted at Stanford University to continue my medical education with a Fellowship in Pediatric Cardiology and Advanced Echocardiography which I completed in June 2024. I was offered a position as a Pediatric Cardiologist specializing in fetal imaging at Coen Children's Medical Center on Long Island, NY. I am so grateful for the wonderful teachers at Central Christian who taught and guided me through my academic journey. However, I am quick to note how deeply they cared about my spiritual and social-emotional well-being as well. The partnership between my parents and Central Christian School played such an integral role in preparing me for the journey that God has called me to. I am grateful for the solid formation that took place in me during my critical high school years. I developed a strong work ethic, tenacity, and grit that has served me well as each step on my academic path has gotten more challenging and yet it was never an option for me to give up because I had learned how to push through and do the right thing at each level. I want to express my gratitude for the foundational preparation I received at Central Christian High School, as it has had an enduring impact on my professional and personal life.
